Meet the Choreographer
Michael Morris was born and raised in Wheeling, WV. At 8 years old he started dancing and his love for all forms of movement took off. He received his early training from various studios in the northern panhandle, where Oglebay Institute was his home studio. After high school, he taught dance at Arielettes for 6 years before heading to West Virginia University to study Dance. During his time at WVU he was able to work with many guests artists, some of which include Donald Laney, Angela Dennis, Adam Barruch, and Meredith Dincolo to name a few. He was able to perform at local and regional events and festivals, and had his choreography performed in the annual Dance Now! concert as well as having his piece selected to represent WVU at the WV Dance Festival in Charleston. After graduation, Michael began auditioning and was offered a position with Carnival Cruise Lines as a Playlist Performer. He has done 4 contracts with Carnival, each ship having a selection of different shows involving singing, dancing and even some magic. His most recent contract was aboard the Carnival Spirit, based out of Australia, where he was appointed dance captain and placed into the Cast Manager training program. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon where he is studying the art of aerial silks to occupy his time until he can return to the stage on the sea.
